The white cap of this mushroom is about 37 mm wide, planoconvex to planoconcave at maturity, and stains reddish brown when injured. The flesh is white and stains similarly. The cap margin is not striate.
gills
The gills are close and white and stain as the cap does. No data was recorded about the short gills.
stem
The white stem of the sole specimen known was 70 × 7 mm, with a rooting bulb measuring 25 × 11 mm. It bruises as the cap does. Its flesh is white. The stem has a white, skirt-like, superior ring that collapses on the stem with age. No volval material was observed on the stem.
odor/taste
The fruiting body had a very distinct odor of pear or apple. No taste was recorded.
spores
The spores of this mushroom measure (6.6-) 7.0 - 8.4 (-8.7) × 4.5 - 5.9 μm, are predominantly ellipsoid to elongate (occasionally broadly ellipsoid), and amyloid. Because of its placement in sect. Validae, it is probable that the basidia of this species have no clamp connections at their bases.
discussion
At present, this entity is known only from the Big Thicket Nat. Pres. in eastern Texas, U.S.A. The soil is sandy and the area in which this mushroom was collected was described as dominated by oak (Quercus). It is very likely that pine (Pinus) was also present.—R. E. Tulloss

So far as we know at present, this is only only rubescent taxon for which there is reported a distinctive, fruit-like odor.
Note: Does this material comprise a depauperate specimen of Amanita maryaliceae? This seems unlikely because the latter has never been recorded as bruising.
Note: It will also be necessary to compare this material with A. novinupta and A. rubescens var. alba and other white, rubescent taxa found by molecular studies.
