  • cap The cap may be white at first, but often quickly develops a reddish brown color, then the brown tint may fade extensively and remain only in the center of the cap.  The cap is not umbonate at first, but may develop an umbo in a central depression.  The cap's margin is striate for about 10 - 25% of the cap's radius.  Usually, no remnants of the universal veil are found on the mature cap.
gills The gills of this species have not been described.
stem The stem is white and bears a ring on the upper part that is membranous, thin, persistent, skirt-like, and white.  The sack-like volva is apparently white on the outer surface at first, but then darkens and cracks like dried mud in manner similar to the volva of A. zambiana.  At least in some specimens, the volva is attached only to the very base of the stem or becomes detached from stem.
odor/taste The odor and taste of this mushroom were not recorded.
spores The spores measure (8.2-) 9.2 - 11.0 (-13.0) × (7.8-) 8.2 - 9.8 (-11.0) µm and are subglobose to broadly ellipsoid and inamyloid.  Clamps are probably common at the bases of basidia, but the necessary microscopy has not yet been done.
discussion This mushroom should be compared with A. zambiana and A. chepangiana.—R. E. Tulloss
