In the field, this species can be segregated from
A.
anthracina because the pileus of the latter is
entirely black. In addition, the two species are
genetically distinct.
At the date of this revision (4 October 2021), the
closest nrITS sequence of section Vaginatae
in GenBank
was was nearly 7% distant (by pairwise comparison of
trimmed nrITS) from A. sp‑T48.
