    odor/taste Amanita pahasapaensis is reportedly odorless.  The few collector's of this species have not reported on its taste.
    spores The spores of this species measure (9.1-) 10.5 - 14.0 (-15.2) × (7.5-) 7.7 - 10.0 (-10.2) μm and are broadly ellipsoid to ellipsoid (infrequently sublogose or elongate) and inamyloid.  The basidia lack clamps at their bases.
    discussion This taxon with distinctive spores is known from the Black Hills of South Dakota to Grant County, New Mexico, U.S.A.  In the northern part of its range it is reported with with Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta).  In the southern part of its range is is associated with Ponderosa Pine (P. ponderosa), Gambel Oak (Quercus gambelii), and Alligator Juniper (Juniperus deppeana).—R.
