intro The following material is derived from the original description of the present taxon.
cap The blackish gray cap is 20 - 50 mm wide.  The cap's center fades with age to a lighter gray.  The cap is at first egg-shaped and then becomes broadly convex to bell-shaped.  The cap's edge is curved downward and is slightly grooved, it often has pieces of the ring hanging from it.  The cap is at least slightly slimy when moist, and cracks when dry to reveal the white flesh beneath the surface.
gills The white gills are rounded toward the stem and somewhat crowded, they have a slightly convex edge.  The short gills are of at least two lengths.
stem The multiply curved whitish stem is 45 - 80 x 4 - 5 mm, cylindric, and narrows toward its base.  The stem is covered at first with scattered white scales.  The stem's flesh is solid.  The fragile white ring is placed near the top of the stem.
odor/taste The odor is strongly farinaceous; the taste was not recorded.
spores The spores measures 5 - 6 × 4 - 5 μm and are subglobose to broadly ellipsoid and inamyloid.  Clamps are present at bases of basida.
