cap The cap is dark gray and black in the center; its margin is striate; and volval remnants are not present on the cap surface.
gills The gills becoming sordid with age.
stem The stem is thoroughly gray (dark cinereous). The universal veil at the stipe base reportedly breaks up easily.
spores The spores measure (9.2-) 9.4 - 16.1 (-16.8) × (8.6-) 8.9 - 14.7 (-14.9) µm and are subglobose (infrequently broadly ellipsoid) and inamyloid.  Clamps are not to be found at the bases of basidia.
discussion Known only from the Louisiana coastal plain.—R. E. Tulloss
