brownish gray, very dark over disc, sometimes with distinct whitish pruinosity or frosty appearance; context white, thin; margin striate; universal veil absent.
[Note: The pruinose of frosty appearance suggests that the universal veil is not segregated from the pileipellis by a gelatinizing layer.—ed.]
